NamoLux's £4.99/month plan is coming: from business name ideas to Brand Studio

Choosing a business name is the beginning of a chain of decisions: can customers say it, is a suitable domain available, could it conflict with another business, and can the name support a real brand? NamoLux brings that research into one workflow. A new £4.99/month plan is planned, alongside a more ambitious Brand Studio for turning a promising name into a visual direction and starter website.

Why a business name needs more than an AI brainstorm

An AI business name generator can give you a list in seconds. The difficult part is deciding which idea survives contact with the real world. The UK Intellectual Property Office recorded 203,194 trade mark applications in 2025, a record high and 17.3% more than in 2024. Source: UK IPO, 2025 facts and figures.

The company and domain spaces are crowded too. Companies House reported 5.48 million companies on the UK register at 31 March 2026. Verisign's Q2 2026 industry report counted 401.6 million domain registrations worldwide. Those totals do not mean every good name is taken. They explain why a shortlist should be checked across more than one surface before you invest in a logo, website or launch.

What NamoLux helps you do today

Current NamoLux tools help founders move from a brief to business name ideas, examine domain options and compare a shortlist. Its free Basic Name Generator offers initial ideas and checks selected extensions; signed-in Name Sprint and Bulk Check support a more deliberate naming search. The paid Starter pack currently adds Founder Signal assessments, app-store and social checks, saved comparisons and Brand Launch Kits. The exact allowances and current prices are shown on the live pricing page.

This is useful because a name decision has several dimensions: fit for the audience, pronunciation, distinctiveness, domain choices and potential collisions. NamoLux keeps the evidence beside the ideas, so you can compare candidates instead of relying on a single score or an attractive sounding word.

The planned £4.99/month NamoLux plan

The intended new entry subscription is £4.99 per month. The aim is to make ongoing naming research accessible to founders who are exploring an idea and freelancers who return with another client brief. A credit allowance is being designed so deeper searches can reflect the work involved. Credit amounts, rollover rules, included features and launch date have not yet been announced; they should not be inferred from this article.

For a founder, value means being able to revisit a shortlist when the brief changes. For a designer or developer, it means a repeatable way to take each new project from discovery to a defensible first direction. The subscription is intended to support that workflow; it is not a promise of unlimited generation or of a particular commercial outcome.

Coming next: Brand Studio, from client brief to starter site

The Brand Studio vision is a connected workspace. A founder or freelancer would capture a structured business brief, generate a wider pool of candidate names and screen the strongest options. From a selected name, they would explore brand directions on a visual canvas: wordmark, colours, typography, useful brand assets and page previews. The longer term goal is a responsive starter website with editable code and an exportable handoff.

  1. Brief: describe the audience, offer, tone and preferred domain extensions.
  2. Discover: generate and compare names against the brief.
  3. Screen: review available domain evidence and preliminary company, trade mark and web signals.
  4. Design: compare visual directions around a chosen name.
  5. Build and hand over: preview a starter site, refine it and export code when that capability is ready.

These are planned capabilities, not features in the current public subscription. A later agent integration is also being explored so tools such as coding assistants could use the same project workflow. Its availability, access rules and pricing are undecided.

What “screened” means, and where human review matters

A domain availability checker answers a different question from a company name check, and neither gives trade mark clearance. Availability can also change between a search and purchase. The UK IPO advises checking similar registered trade marks, including the relevant goods and services, before applying. Its guidance recommends professional advice if a similar mark is found.

NamoLux's planned screening should be read as an early research aid: it can surface possible conflicts and direct you to further checks, but it cannot guarantee that a name is legally safe, registrable or commercially unique. A founder still needs to review the evidence, buy the domain separately if desired and get qualified advice where the decision is consequential.

A practical workflow for founders and freelancers

Start with the problem the business solves, who it serves and how it should sound. Generate names, then filter by pronunciation and relevance before checking domains. Compare the survivors with company and trade mark research. Only after that should you spend time on a visual identity and website. This order helps avoid polishing a name that cannot support the next stage of the business.

For client work, a joined-up brief, shortlist, brand direction and code handoff could give a freelancer a clearer path from discovery call to deliverable. It still requires professional judgement, original design work and client approval. NamoLux is being built to make those decisions easier to organise, not to replace them.
