Who is responsible

Information I receive

• Enquiries: your name, email address, project description and any other information you choose to include in an email or brief. The contact form opens a draft in your email app; it does not submit the brief to this website.
• Optional portfolio chat: the messages you enter and the page you are on. The chat does not email me automatically. If you choose “Send this to Andrew”, the form also sends your contact details, project details and a chat summary to my email.
• Site usage: page views and interactions, such as link clicks, along with limited browser, device and performance information. Hosting services may process IP addresses and request logs for delivery and security.

Please do not put sensitive personal information into the project brief or chat unless it is necessary for your enquiry.

How I use information

I use enquiry details to respond, discuss a possible project, prepare a quote and, if you hire me, provide the agreed service. The usual lawful basis is taking steps at your request before a contract or performing a contract. I may also keep records where required by law.

I use limited site usage and technical information to understand what is useful on the website, improve it, and keep it working securely. Where personal data is involved, the lawful basis is my legitimate interest in operating and improving the site. I do not use your enquiry to add you to a marketing mailing list.

Services and sharing

The site is hosted on Vercel and uses Vercel Web Analytics for aggregate traffic and interaction statistics. Vercel Web Analytics does not use third-party cookies. If separately configured, WatchTower may receive page views, errors, performance information and button-click events.

When you use the optional chat, the conversation is sent through the website to Groq so its AI service can generate a reply. If you submit the chat handoff form, the details and summary are sent through Resend to my email. Email providers also process messages you send directly. I do not sell your personal information.

These providers may process information outside the UK. Their own privacy terms and applicable transfer safeguards govern that processing. Contact me if you would like more detail about a particular transfer.

How long information is kept

I keep enquiries and project correspondence for as long as needed to handle the enquiry, deliver any agreed work, resolve queries and meet applicable legal or accounting duties. The period depends on whether a project goes ahead and whether a record needs to be retained by law. Site analytics and technical logs are retained according to the relevant provider’s settings and policies. Chat messages are not sent to my email unless you use the handoff form.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may ask to access or correct your personal data, have it erased, restrict its use, object to its use, or receive a copy in a portable format. You can also withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing. These rights have legal limits. Email me to make a request.
